St George’s School Students celebrate Vectis Radio’s 10th Anniversary on board a Red Funnel Ferry

On Thursday 23rd January 2020, five of our students joined the crew of Red Funnel Ferry to celebrate Vectis Radio’s 10th Anniversary and create our first outside broadcast. The celebrations were held in the Signature Lounge with a wonderful supply of drinks and pastries for us all. Connor had a leading part in creating the programme as part of his Supported Internship. He organised all the recordings with his fellow students and the Red Funnel staff. We all had the opportunity to go onto the Bridge and meet Captain Brett. The students asked Brett a variety of questions and Brett explained the workings of all the instruments. It was extremely interesting.

The students had a wonderful time and before we departed Bethany Kibler from Red Funnel Ferry gave them gifts as a memento of the day.

I would like to thank Ian Mac for including us in Vectis Radio’s celebrations and a huge thank you to all the staff at Red Funnel Ferry for giving our students an experience they will never forget. All the staff made us feel so very welcome; it really was a very special day.
