Our friends at St John’s Church in Newport have invited our school and residents of Newport and Carisbrooke to display stars in our windows over the Advent and Christmas period. We have been working on our own in school this week, where students have designed a star and filled it with a hope for the future, as we look towards 2021. It would be wonderful for you to join in at home, if you are able to do so. If you don’t live in Newport or Carisbrooke, then you may still wish to display a star in your window, or stars can also be sent in to Claire Slade-Carter at school to be added to our display – the more hope and light to take us into 2021 the better! It is a shame that we will not be able to attend St John’s Church for our Christmas Service this year due to current restrictions, however we are still working together to produce a Christmas Service in school, which will be shared in classes by video call. We look forward to sharing parts of this with you in the coming weeks.
‘I’m writing to invite you all to join us in the new parish of Newport and Carisbrooke in putting stars in our windows this Advent and Christmas. A star led the wise men to find the baby Jesus, who brought new hope and life into the world and we would love to see stars all over Newport and Carisbrooke as a symbol of hope for the future for us as well as a reminder of Christ’s birth. We want to make this as easy as possible so the stars can be of any type; homemade, bought, an old decoration or something new.’
