Update on Planning Work

I wanted to update you on the planning work that has gone into the new 6th Form provision which the LA has committed to providing us. The new provision will be called ‘The View (Vocation, Independence and Experiencing Wider opportunities)’. It will comprise 5 classrooms and we will be moving some of our vocational options such as Hair and Beauty up to the new provision. The View will be cited at the top of the school drive. Just far enough to feel like a really bespoke 6th Form provision but not too far away that the 6th Formers cannot take full opportunity of our whole school resources. I believe this will be a really good half-way transition opportunity for our students, who will have spent a number of years with us, before moving to adult providers. The planning has been virtually completed and the hope is that the Local Authority can go out to tender to get a company to carry out the work on the old Clatterford site. The aim is that 3 outside classrooms will become available to us for September 2021 with the main building becoming accessible by December 2021. I will let you know more as information becomes available. I am very excited as this is something I have been campaigning for since I joined the school in 2006. It will be a dream becoming reality for our very deserving students.

We are also going to be having work carried out in the main building on our shower facilities. Currently they are very outdated and are in need of a real overhaul. I am pleased to announce that this work will also take place over the summer so there is going to be a mini facelift for the students in the main school also. In addition to our new toilet facilities completed earlier in the year, you won’t recognise us when we are able to welcome you back to the school.

Have a good weekend.

Best wishes

Sue Holman, Headteacher
