Over the past year we have been transforming the school environment as part of our options on a Friday Morning. We wanted to create some additional activities for students to play with during breaks and lunchtimes on the Sixth Form playground.
As a group we went searching for any unused items that we could repurpose! We were kindly donated some upcycled flowers and a rainbow made from vinyl records to brighten up the playground too.
We found some boom whackers, a football table and benches. We also made mini chess pieces for an outdoor chess table. We made a musical instrument from the boom whackers and have had fun playing on the football table.
As Sixth Formers, we like to socialise with our peers and were able to source some benches, which were unused. We were then set the task of planning, ordering the wood and constructing a picnic bench from scratch!! This is a project that has taken many weeks but we are incredibly proud of our craftsmanship!
We have practiced and developed a variety of skills during this including teamwork, communication, measurement, calculation and money.
We are incredibly proud of our achievements this year and hope that they are enjoyed by everyone.
