This half term, students in years 7 and 8 are making Soup. Warming, healing and good for the soul. Who doesn’t love a hot bowl of soup on a cold wintery day? I know I do! Homemade soups are simply the best! Just a few humble veggies can be made into a filling meal. Soups are a great make ahead of time meal, easily frozen and reheated in the microwave. Making soup is a super way to use up those vegetables lurking in the back of the fridge that still have a little life left in them.
Students are developing essential cooking skills like peeling and chopping, learning different terms such simmering and boiling all the while remembering their kitchen safety and hygiene rules. Importantly students are also learning about taste and texture, exploring different vegetables and the different job each vegetable does to make a delicious soup.
