Dear Students, Families, Staff and Governors

On Monday, we shall be sending out a parent / carer consultation for completion. It has been just over a year since I took on the Headship and since OFSTED so we are keen to get a sense of what you think we have done well and what we can do to improve further at St George’s. Please complete the survey if possible as the more responses we receive will give us a good overview of parent / carer voice.

There was an amazing turnout at our Stars in Their Eyes event on Saturday night. Huge thanks to all involved and everyone who went along to support. Special thanks to Anthony, Gordie, Frankie, Paul and Lorna our very own Star! What a performance she put on and she was definitely the winner in St George’s eyes. An incredible £2000 was raised for the school and will go towards our minibus fund. Photo to follow next week. We will keep The Go Fund Me account open until the end of the month, if you would like to make a contribution to this very worthy cause, please click on the link below.

All donations gratefully received.

On Thursday this week, we had an assessment regarding our submission for the Peach Bronze Award. The assessment went very well, huge thanks again to all the staff and students involved in the assessment process, which was very intense. Special thanks to Bekki Mann, our KS3 Lead for collating all the evidence and leading on the process. We hope there will be a detailed report in next week’s newsletter.

Last Friday Heather and our EARA group hosted a conference. Once again,
our students were amazing ambassadors for the community of St George’s. A number of schools attended and certainly learnt lots from our students including some essential Makaton signs.

Our students at Vectis Radio have also interviewed the High Sheriff this week and I have received fantastic feedback from Vectis and the High Sheriff about how they represented the school.

A group of young people went to an inclusive event at Mary Rose Academy in Southsea on Friday and had a wonderful day full of sensory experiences including the hydro pool and special yoga.

I feel so lucky to be part of such an amazing school and feel incredibly privileged to be in the position that I am in. I am so very proud of every student and their achievements. Our School Improvement Manager is visiting next week so I am looking forward to sharing all our news with her.

With best wishes
