Dear Students, Families, Staff and Governors

As a school, we are constantly seeking to improve our offer to young people at St George’s. Safeguarding is always high on our agenda and we encourage a culture of safeguarding as a priority in all that we do. Recently, we have become aware of some concerns where our vulnerable students are accessing the community independently out of school hours. This has led to us making a decision that for all future open events such as sports day, summer fayre etc., we need to ask families to let us know in advance if you are attending. This provides us with an effective record of who has attended and which student the visitor is linked to. We shall be trialling this for our Summer Fayre event on 19th July, so please let us know if you are attending (see attached form).
Thanks to all of you in advance.

As always, this time of year is incredibly busy and it was an absolute pleasure to host the Achiever’s Evening last week and say goodbye to our leaving students but also celebrate their success and progress during their time at St George’s. Thanks to you all as parents for letting us have them, it is a privilege. It was lovely to see so many of you celebrating with your young people. Long-term supporters of the school Liz Earle, Local Authority representatives, Governors, also joined us and of course, many staff. It is always a lovely evening.

You should have received a letter by now letting you know who your young person’s class teacher will be next year. Bekky is busy organising the transition day next Tuesday. This is an island wide event and I hope it all goes smoothly. It will be an opportunity for students to spend time with new teachers and students in preparation for September.

You will also receive the end of year report next Friday. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I have when making my comments. I am very proud of each and every student in the school. If you want to discuss anything in the report please make contact with the relevant person to arrange a convenient time.

For those of you who enjoy watching football let’s hope England up their game for Saturday’s match and are a little more impressive than they have been to date.

For the rest of you enjoy the weekend.
