Careers and Aspirations at St George’s
Here at St George’s School, we are very proud of the Careers Education provision. St George’s students are encouraged early on from Year 7, to reflect upon their skills and qualities in order to plan early and broadly for their own future, developing independent living skills and where appropriate, skills that are transferable to the world of work.
We believe that for many of our young people with special educational needs and disabilities that with the right preparation, training and support, they are capable of sustaining paid employment. We support students to consider their options, realise their potential and decide how their skills and experiences fit with opportunities in the job market. We prepare students for their preferred transitional pathway whether that is to continue with further education, employment, training or living independently and use a person-centred approach in our delivery methods.
We provide support for students to consider all available options that match their interests and skills and ensure that we keep up to date with the student’s aspirations and interests so we are able to tailor our offer.
Careers Education, Information Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) at St George’s School aims to raise aspirations and provide students with the knowledge and experience to make informed choices for their future regarding Post 16 providers, apprenticeships, traineeships or work.
The school has a dedicated Careers and Aspirations Lead- Marie Wells, who can be contacted by email firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone (01983) 524634.
