On Tuesday 7th February 2023, 10A and 11A had a visit from Dean Coady who works for Urban Pure in Manchester and Julian who supports young people in Sandown. Dean did a workshop call Street Strong and talked to us about knife, gun and drug crime and how easy it is to get into that type of criminal activity, even accidentally.
He also used to be in the army and now goes around the world, training people and helping people in dangerous places. He just has back from helping refugees in Ukraine and has been training males and females in Africa on how to become rangers. Dean also told us examples of the type of crime, showed us, and gave examples of what can happen if you are caught in that type of crime.
Dean told us a bit about his life and how he has been around a lot of crime in his life but chose to make a difference instead of keep getting into trouble. He talked a lot about respect and how we should show respect to ourselves and to other people.
