Careers Information Education and Guidance at St George’s

At St George’s we believe in delivering a careers education that is engaging, sparks curiosity and is meaningful to our students, their needs and their lives. Where appropriate, we have committed to following the guidance outlined in the government’s Careers Strategy.

The careers leader at St George’s is responsible for making sure that the programme meets the expectations set out in the Gatsby Benchmarks.

We have a strong and stable careers programme, which is led by the interests and aspirations of students in regards to developing life skills, gaining independence, making choices, future learning and gaining employment, with a strong emphasis on vocational learning.

We are proud to be a Skills Builders school, which incorporates the eight essential skills needed for life through both our curriculum and wider opportunities. These are teamwork, speaking/communication, listening, leadership, aiming high, creativity, problem solving and staying positive.

Students learn about the different pathways available to them through events such as our Moving On afternoons, Careers Week and visits to and from external providers.

Further information around our offer for students, and employers can be found here.
