Developing Essential Work Skills
From Key Stage 3 onwards, all students develop the essential skills needed for learning, work and adult life through the Skills Builder Framework.
The eight essential skills are systematically taught, practised and assessed across the curriculum:

These skills are embedded across specialist curriculum areas, enabling students to develop and apply them in meaningful and relevant contexts. Skills Builder assessments help students recognise their strengths, identify next steps and celebrate progress as they prepare for adulthood.
By embedding Skills Builder throughout Key Stage 3 and beyond, students develop the confidence, resilience and employability skills that employers consistently identify as essential for future success.

Recognising that every young person has different strengths, aspirations and support needs, students access one of three personalised pathways.
Vocational Pathway
The Vocational Pathway supports students who are working towards accredited qualifications and future employment opportunities.
