Hi, I am Nikki the Annual Review Officer at St George’s.
I am taking on the IOW Ultra Challenge on the 30th April, which involves me walking the whole IOW Coastal path (approx. 68 miles) non-stop (there will be the odd refuelling station, thankfully).
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance is the charity that delivers an advanced Critical Care Team to sick and injured people in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight when they need it most. Available both day and night, 365 days a year, the Air Ambulance Critical Care Team is called out many times a day to attend road traffic collisions, sporting accidents, collapses and many other incidents.
This is a vital service to many who require critical medical assistance, especially on our Island when this assistance is only available at a hospital on the mainland and getting there quickly is essential. The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance is a non-profitable charity – they rely entirely on donations from the community to carry out their life-saving service. It costs approximately £15,000 a day to keep this vital service operational.
I have been in training for this since the start of January 2022 and things are really stepping up now, with various activities a week including interval training, cross training and obviously plenty of walking. If you would like to see what I have been up to, read about what the HIOWAA do with donations and also if you would like to make a donation, please follow this link: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/NikkiJackson-Ultra

School have kindly agreed to let me hold a cake sale within school for students and staff on Thursday 7th April, cakes will cost £1, with all proceeds going to HIOWAA, and will be available during break time and if there are any left at lunch time also (and a ‘take home’ option if you would like your young person to bring some home for the family).
I am also doing a raffle which will be drawn on the day and tickets will be available to purchase at the cake sale, tickets will cost 20p each or a strip for £1. The HIOWAA are also providing some awesome pin badges and wristbands that can be exchanged for a suggested donation of £2 each.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff members that have offered to support this and bring in their bakes for the sale, we should have quite a selection! I am hoping there will be gluten free and a vegan option available too.
Apologies for the long read but I am very passionate about raising awareness for HIOWAA and their vital service as this is literally life saving for so many people.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.
Many thanks
Nikki Jackson
