Students have had a very busy week. On Wednesday, we had a PE drop down day, with different activities available for all students to access. We have another next Tuesday where the focus will be on student wellbeing. Teaching staff have been busy carrying out reading assessments during these drop down days.
Staff are busy planning events for the second half of the summer term and all dates will be in the newsletter in due course. It is a pleasure to see the students actively involved in a range of events, the community feel is certainly returning after the impact of the Covid pandemic.
Well done to all staff and students who participated in Walk the Wight last Sunday – this is always a popular event for the island community and the weather was perfect.
We have been fortunate enough to secure some additional funding for two exciting projects in school over the coming months. One is to convert our current Sensory Room into an Immersion Room; the work is planned for July and is very exciting. We will, hopefully be able to have an opening event once the work is complete. The second is some funds to improve our library area, our plan is to revamp our current library area and make it more appealing for young people. This will involve new furniture and books. A working group is planned for the summer, so that we can open the new library in September. Again, very exciting and something that I have been keen to develop for a long time.
