Dear Students, Families, Staff and Governors,

This is a gentle reminder that the start of the day is 9am for students; they should not be dropped off before 8.50am. Staff are unable to supervise students before this time due to school commitments. Students being dropped off early or left unsupervised often leads to heightened behaviours which potentially leads to unsettled days, this can then impact on the young person’s ability to focus on their learning. There are also safeguarding risks due to the nature of our site with regard to traffic on the drive or the risk of absconding. Please ensure students are not left unsupervised before 8.50am. I will also write to transport and send the same reminder to taxi – minibus drivers. Thank you as always for your understanding with this matter.

St George’s and Medina House continue to work together and this week myself and Vic Mackie had a really positive meeting with our bus escorts, which will hopefully improve communication between transport, school and home. We are planning regular meetings due to the success of the initial meeting. Some of our students have also accessed the hydro pool at Medina House this week which is something we have been working towards for some time. It was a fantastic session and I have seen evidence that the students involved had a wonderful time.

I welcomed some veterans into school this week for an afternoon tea to try to promote a volunteer programme where they may be able to work with some of our students on some initiatives and projects. Thanks to our 6th Form Hospitality group who provided delicious refreshments and excellent service as always. I will keep you informed of how this progresses.

I have not had any response to the information last week regarding the Short Break Inspectors. If anyone is interested and would like more information, please get in touch and I will provide further details.

I cannot believe how quickly this week has gone, have a great weekend.

Best wishes
