A very warm welcome to you all in 2023 from the staff team at St George’s. Some of you may have seen in the local news that St George’s has been successful in a bid to the DfE School Rebuilding Programme. As yet, I have no further information about the extent of the proposals but I am sure you will all agree that this is a positive outcome for the school and most importantly our students. St George’s is growing in numbers and we now have 202 students on roll so any building improvements are very welcome. I will keep you informed as and when further information is available.
Can I remind families that we do promote school uniform in Year 7-11 and whilst we are happy to be flexible, we have noticed that some students are not wearing appropriate uniform. For example, some students have been wearing hoodies and tracksuits. Whilst we allow jogging bottoms, hoodies are not allowed as part of our school attire. It is also important that students bring a PE kit / change of clothing for physical activities – this is particularly important when the weather is poor as well as for personal hygiene reasons.
Before Christmas, I was contacted by the Local Authority asking if I would celebrate our year 11 student’s attendance if it were above 98%. Of course, I was delighted, so I would like to share with you the good news that the following students should have received a letter between Christmas and New Year commending them for such good attendance:

Josh C,
Cameron GB,
Sophie H,
Joel RC,
Jonathan W,
Dylan YE.
Well done to all of you, four of you had 100% attendance, which is fantastic.
