From Steff, Headteacher.

Following the news of the death of Queen Elizabeth, St George’s will be closed on Monday 19th September as a mark of respect. We look forward to the students returning on Tuesday 20th September.

Another week has flown by and staff have worked incredibly hard to implement some changes in the way St George’s plans the curriculum. This is to ensure that we offer the best opportunities to your young people.

Transition to a new school or class can be a challenge for many but our students are working hard and engaging well with their learning. We are incredibly proud of how quickly they have settled into the routine of school. This week we had a planned fire alarm and everyone evacuated safely and quickly with little disruption to the school day.

Our Senior Leadership team are available if you have any worries or concerns regarding your young person and we would encourage you to make contact if this is the case. We will also have a parent meeting towards the end of this half term as well as our annual review of EHCP meetings, which run throughout the year.

We have had a number of changes to our staff team, both new staff and changes of responsibility. Over the next few weeks, I will ask those staff members to write a short piece for the newsletter. Either to introduce themselves or to inform you of their change in role.

Finally we are looking for two parent governors and I would encourage any of you who are interested to make contact with our Chair of Governors for an informal chat to see if it is something that you could get involved with, although I do appreciate that many of you have busy lives.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend and look forward to meeting many of you over the next few weeks.
