From Steff.

Dear Families

As you know, we had a very busy week with OFSTED visiting us. I wanted to share with you all how proud I am of all the students and staff at St George’s, it really was an opportunity to celebrate our curriculum offer and personalised learning opportunities available to our students. I also want to thank those of you who completed the parent survey, the Lead Inspector shared them with me and they were very positive. I feel incredibly privileged to be in the position of Headteacher at St George’s and am very much looking forward to continuing to develop the school further. As soon as the OFSTED report is published we shall share outcomes and areas for development with you and all stakeholders.

I have been approached by Sporting Bears, a charity who take young people for a ride in a high performance sports car, we have agreed to host the event on Saturday 10th December. This was a really popular day pre-pandemic and many students enjoyed the experience. I also got to have a ride in my dream car, an Aston Martin. Information will be released closer to the day and I hope many of you can join us for the experience.

St George’s also offers the opportunity for students to attend premier league football matches at St Mary’s in Southampton. This involves attending on a Saturday afternoon and students are supported by our dedicated staff team, 2 staff and 2 students. If your young person is interested in attending and you are able to commit to drop offs and pick ups from Cowes please let their class teacher know who will pass the information to Ella our PE Instructor who coordinates the visits.

We will be letting you know dates for our half term parent consultation meetings over the next week and hope that many of you can meet with teachers to discuss how your young people have settled into the new year at St George’s.

I wish you an enjoyable weekend and look forward to seeing the students back at school on Monday.
