Green Food!

It’s been all about healthy green food this week in Food Tech.

Michelle is currently leading our Sensory and Sunflower students through their Rainbow of Food Discovery, each week looking at different food from the colours of the rainbow and this week was green week.

So, as we had an abundance of green fruit, salads and vegetables, the KS4 and 6th Form students have been building green salads and learning about the importance of including green vegetables into our daily diet, especially at this time of the year when we are leading into the colder months. Green vegetables and salad ingredients contain many vitamins and minerals that can help our bodies repair, grow stronger and fight infections.

These salads made by the year 11s have no less than 12 different green salad and vegetable ingredients including asparagus, avocado, baby spinach, green olives, chives and cucumber. For some students, there were ingredients they hadn’t eaten before and for some there were ingredients they knew they didn’t like.

I am proud of all the students for showing a real interest in these foods and for trying different vegetables and salad ingredients. Have a good weekend.
