Dear Students, Families, Staff & Governors
As always, students have been very busy with a range of activities including exams for some. As we approach the exam period, I wish all our students luck and know that they will try their best – we cannot ask for more.
Staff are busy writing our end of year reports, we are using a different format this year, which is linked to our assessment and recording programme, Earwig. I will look forward to hearing feedback about the reports. The examples I have seen so far are lovely and give information about the students learning, along with photographs.
Kat and her class have been working very hard on transforming our courtyard (name of project yet to be revealed) with a range of plants and a lovely large, raised bed. This will brighten up the area and create a further outdoor learning environment at our site at Newport. We have received a number of donations towards this project for which we are very grateful.
Staff at St George’s Studio have also been working with students to improve the outdoor environment which has allowed the students the opportunity to make a range of planters and bird feeders.
You may be aware that there is a consultation underway to expand the number of places at St George’s Studio, from 20 to 40, in September. Work is planned to refurbish the second half of the building over the summer. SMART WATCHES – in line with our Personal Electronic Devices policy we will be asking students in Key Stage 3 and 4 to hand in their smart watches along with their mobile phones. This is to reduce the risk of students using these inappropriately or being distracted during learning time and the risk of watches getting damaged during practical activities. Use of phones in school – St George’s School. As a parent my advice would be for students to keep smart watches at home during school hours. Thank you for your support with this matter.
