Planted on Friday 18th March with the help of the Tree Council representatives from London. It was a beautiful, sunny, warm spring day .Every student and adult in school was given the opportunity to plant one tree. Many of the students named their tree and have remembered where it is so that they can look after it. Some people dedicated their tree to other people that they know . Students also said that they felt that they were doing something important for the future and talked about climate change and how important trees are for the future.
At the end of the day, we had planted 600 small trees in our Tiny Forest. This is some of the young people that are in the Beacon Group. They will be making sure that the trees get the best chance to grow into the St George’s Forest.
The day before students also planted a tree in the corner of the school field as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy . The sapling is an oak tree that has been grown from the 700 year old Nunwell oak and we hope that the tree will last for hundreds of years and grows into a huge tree to provide shade for future students.
