Hello All
I can’t believe how quickly half term has come around and I hope that all of you are going to have a wonderful two weeks.
Students have been very busy engaged in their learning both at school and in the community. A number of students from St George’s and St George’s Studio attended a careers event this week to consider their aspirations and discover pathways to ensure that these become a reality. I am very proud of our students and how they have persevered to overcome any barriers to their learning or achievement.
Today we have had our first LLP visit from the local authority, both sites were visited and we have chosen to focus on quality assurance of some EHCP’s to ensure that provision identified in the plan reflects the experience of our students. We also focussed on some outdoor learning and also how we are embedding phonics within the curriculum. Our recently introduced values were also considered as part of the visit and how both staff and students have embraced these values into daily life at St George’s. I will report back after the visit once I have received the report. These visits are essential in supporting our improvement journey at St George’s.
On Monday 3rd November we also have a colleague from the DfE visiting the island and he is keen to visit both sites and find out more about our school and some of the current challenges we face on the island.
I am very pleased that our school is being recognised for the positive provision we offer and also that the staff team and I embrace challenge and advice around school improvement.
You may have seen the recent press release regarding our rebuild opportunity and I will continue to update you all as this progresses. We are still very much in the feasibility stage and are awaiting the final few surveys on the exiting site to be completed.
I look forward to welcomimg back all of our students in November.
Best wishes
Steff
