ST GEORGE’S STUDIO

This week we have ventured into the world of politics and explored what happens during an election. This was linked into selecting a representative to join the whole school student council. The students completed application forms and presented ideas they have to improve the school.

In discussion with the students, we decided to hold a formal ballot for the councillor role. The students also made the decision that we would elect a councillor and a vice councillor to ensure we had coverage in the case of absence!

The students completed this process in a really positive manner and all staff were impressed with how professionally the students dealt with the process. When the votes had all been counted, we ended up electing Austin as our council representative for the Studio site. We had a tie for the vice councillor role and the two students, Jacob and Tyler, made a mutual agreement to share the role between them. This means in total we will have 3 students representing the Studio site on the school council and looking to improve our provision.
We are incredibly proud of how well the students engaged in this process and can’t wait for them to get started. Well done!
