Courtney has been placement at the Donkey Sanctuary in the café. She has been supporting the café team with the daily running and cleaning of the kitchen. Courtney has loved putting her skills she has learnt in her hospitality lessons with Michelle into practice. Well done Courtney!
Leland and Sam have this term been helping at the Samaritans charity shop in Newport. Both students have experienced working the tills, sorting through donations, pricing and placing on the shop floor.
Both students have been amazing with their customer service skills and confidently engaging with all customers.
This term, Eva has been visiting ‘Ability Dogs 4 Young People’. Eva has had the opportunity to sit and watch training sessions with the ability dogs team, whilst they are training their puppies ready for placement.
Last week, Eva had the opportunity to work alongside a ‘Puppy Parent’ and their dog Morgan to follow the commands and tasks set by the trainer.
We have certainly enjoyed our time spent on placement here with Carol and her hard working team.
Courtney, George, Timmy and Sam have continued their hard work at Vectis Radio this term. They individually create their own material each week to create a pod cast, which is uploaded to the website weekly.
As well as this, they also speak live about current topics or themes of their choice each week.
We are extremely lucky to be a part of Vectis Radios 4Ps project. Most importantly our students confidence and self-esteem, giving them a channel to speak about whatever they like and having their voice heard!
This year, the 4Ps at Vectis Radio won SILVER award for ‘Community impact Project of The Year’!
This term Josh has rounded up his time spent at ‘Milly Jolly Jacobs Farm’. Josh has shown amazing skills and qualities when around all of the farm animals at this setting.
Josh independently and confidently engages with all the animals at the farm. During Josh’s time at the farm, he has got involved with every task asked of him! Each week Josh impressed Milly more and more!

Over the next fortnight, some of our placements are coming to an end. Work experience allows students to have a taster in their area of choice for 6 weeks. It also gives our students the chance to showcase their skills that they have developed during lesson time and build on them further.
